Exhaust Capture Nozzles
The Horizon-Future range provides a wide selection
of vehicle exhaust capture nozzles. The range includes Neoprene nozzles
of the slip-on type and clamp type, with circular, rectangular, and angular
configurations. Steel nozzles with spring-loaded
lids, and exhaust capture funnels. Steel/Neoprene combination nozzles
are also available.
Specially designed nozzles are available, including
nozzles mounted on an adjustable stand, nozzles for vertical exhaust stack
pipes. Illustrated below, are a selected few from a large range of nozzles.
Choosing a Nozzle... Points to Bear in Mind
Steel nozzle - the spring-loaded lid,
secures the nozzle in place on the exhaust pipe. When removed from the
exhaust pipe, it provides an effective seal/damper over the exhaust extraction
hose when not in use. A steel nozzle is recommended in conjunction with
high exhaust temperature.
Neoprene nozzles
- resistant to exhaust temperatures up to 150oC at normal use. Neoprene
reduces the risk of damaging vehicle surfaces. A
Neoprene nozzle is not readily deformed, as with a steel nozzle.
A nozzle without a clamping device,
can easily slide off the exhaust pipe, if the vehicle is moved in any
direction. A nozzle which does not fit tightly to the exhaust pipe, does
not develop a negative pressure within the vehicle exhaust system. Surrounding
air, is therefore exhausted into the nozzle reducing the gas flow temperature,
thus increasing the lifetime of the exhaust hose.
Slip-on nozzles can only be used
with exhaust pipes that are protruding from the vehicle, no ambient air
is fed into the nozzle for temperature reduction.
Protection gloves should be used at all times
when handling a nozzle which has been connected to a vehicle, with the
engine running - the nozzle will be hot!
